GCA has had a long standing policy of blocking Electronic Benefit Transaction (EBT) cards with our third party processor. GCA, through its third party processor, blocks EBT cards by using computer code to identify EBT cards.
Specifically, our third party processor has incorporated software code into its processing platform that identifies the range of Bank Identification Numbers (typically the first six digits of a credit card or debit card) "BIN" that are assigned to EBT cards, and declines authorizing any transactions that are attempted from a card that falls within an EBT BIN range. GCA regularly validates the EBT BIN range with an industry expert.
Card acceptance is our goal, and we actively review acceptance guidelines in order to both maximize our approval rate, and ensure we are in jurisdictional compliance. We will work with you collaboratively to address any concerns that you might have regarding this topic.
